Hello and welcome. So if you have ever laid down at night and you are just wiped out, but your brain is still running through the things you got to do tomorrow like appointments. Maybe you've got to work on your budget, managing your money, planning meals for your family and anticipating everyone else's needs except yours. This episode is for you. This is a deep breath that you didn't realize that you needed. Thank you so much for joining me for the show. And I want to say a special welcome and shout out to Laura and Jessica for jumping on my e-mail list.
And I thank you so much for being a part of the debt Rebel community. But today we are going to talk about the mental load that we carry as moms for all the things, right? So it's not just doing the task, but it's thinking about all the details and everything that goes into making those details happen or making those tasks happen. It's everything all the time. We're not bad at managing life. We're just carrying too much of it. So I want to talk specifically to about the moms that are carrying the financial mental load because this can be a big one.
Not only is it, you know, things like making sure all the bills get paid, but when the budget doesn't feel like it's going right and we're feeling guilty or maybe we're really just trying to stretch those dollars till the next paycheck and we just can't make it happen. And we put it on a credit card. Or maybe it's just that we are just sick and tired of making decisions. So I know I just had one of those moments the other day where I was like, Oh my gosh, my daughter's asking me all these questions and you know, hey, this or that or, you know, can I have this?
And it's just sometimes can feel like I don't want to make one more decision. And so I if that's you, this episode is for you and welcome. I see you, I hear you. And maybe you're listening to this episode and you're like, I'm not a mom, but I'm relating to all of these things. And so I want to say, First off, wherever we are in our journey, whether we are parenting or not, or we are debt free or we're not, we have something that we're, as we learn things, passing those things on to other people in our lives is so important.
And so whether we actually are actively parenting or maybe you are just playing the role of a mother or a mother figure in someone else's lives, it's so vitally important. And so in this special Mother's Day episode, I want to celebrate you because it's important that when we learn the new things that we share those with other people because one helps reinforce the things that we're learning, but someone else can learn along this journey with us. And so as we kind of unpack some of this today, I want to talk about why it's important for us to rest, but also it's important for us to pass this information along and encourage other moms or other women in our lives to say, hold on, rest is not a reward.
It is absolutely a requirement. Because I feel like I have this conversation a lot, not just with the the ladies in my life, but I kind of had this conversation with myself sometimes because I feel like, hey, if I just get this done, then I can take a nap. Or if I just get this done, then I can just relax and read a book or do something else that I enjoy. So rest is absolutely not a reward. It is a requirement and especially if you're someone that struggles with ADHDI am learning so much about that, how important rest is not just for our physical bodies, but our mental bodies are not just for our physical bodies, but for our mental health as well.
So sometimes we might say to ourselves, you know, like I said, we'll rest when everything's done. OK, let me say this loud and clear, we're never done. It's not going to be done. So we're not going to ever reach that destination, which means we don't rest. So let's make sure and we're resting. And what does that look like, right? Because rest for myself can look very different than it could look for you or maybe for your neighbor or your mom or your sister or your best friend. It's going to look different for all of us.
So thinking through where you get rest for myself, sometimes it is saying no to something. And even if it's something that I'm like, hey, I want to say yes to that and I want to figure out how to make it work, saying no is absolutely an option and an opportunity for you to rest. Maybe it's simplifying your decisions. And so if you, you know, maybe you're in a good space right now and you are, you make your decisions earlier in the day so that when it comes time for things later in the day, you've already decided those things so that you don't have to try and pull out the last bits of mental juice that you have to make a decision.
Or maybe it's having that plan in place so that your brain can just relax and chill. So if your mind never gets to rest, your body will force it eventually. And I see this, I've seen this in women in my life especially, but also men, that if we don't get the rest that we need, then our bodies will finally start to shut down and make us rest. And so if we're proactive in that, then it's going to allow us to be more productive and create more peace in other areas of our lives. And one of those areas is money.
Because one of the biggest reasons at least that I see obviously, because I work with as a money coach, I work with people that are having money stress. And so one of the biggest reasons why we feel like we might not be able to take rest is because of that stress. So maybe you've got some unexpected expenses coming up and you're like, I just need to figure this out. I just need to solve this problem. Maybe you're living paycheck to paycheck and constantly putting things like your grocery, the groceries and other basic needs on credit cards suggest to make it from one paycheck to the next.
Or maybe there's just no margin. And so you just feel like, all right, I have to say yes to every opportunity. I have to say yes to overtime. I have to say yes and do all of the things. So peace does not come from making more. It comes from creating some breathing room for ourselves. And that's why it's important to have some breathing room when it comes to our finances. And that's not emergency fund. It's a little something so that when life lives and it pops up like it does that we have that money to draw on and we can we can breathe a little bit easier.
So one of the ways that we can do this is through the May savings challenge that I have set up. So I don't want you to go into this summer feeling stressed and stretched. And I want you to have some breathing room so that you can enjoy the summer with your family, whatever that looks like. So we're going to work towards that $1000 emergency fund that we talked about a lot on the show, but it's going to give you quick, doable daily actions, 10 minutes or less, to help you find those hidden areas where money is just leaking out of your budget.
It's not working yourself to burn out. OK, So what does that look like? So it's going to help you with create less panic in your life, more confidence, and like I said, a calmer summer so that you can enjoy it with your family, however you have that summer planned. So it's not about perfection, it's about progress and peace in creating that breathing room for yourself. So we carry a lot, especially as parents, we have a big responsibility to raise the next generation. And so there's a lot that's happening that more that some people don't see.
And so I want to say I see you, I see you working hard and doing the best that you can for your family. And so I want to help you with that process, especially on the financial side, to help you have that breathing room. So one thing I noticed when working with my clients is we can feel like we're not doing enough and we're not doing, yeah, we're not doing enough. But you are doing better than you think. So remember, rest is productive and support is OK. It's OK to say yes. It's OK to say yes to help.
It's OK to accept help when it's offered. And so this is me offering you help. The challenge is absolutely free. So if you are ready for a more peaceful summer, then come join us in this May Savings Challenge and help build that breathing room for yourself. And I'll walk you through this step by step. It's all done over e-mail. If you want to take the the next step, there is AVIP Bonus Pass available if you want to purchase that. But it's going to help you. The whole thing is going to help you get closer to that goal of having $1000 saved so that you don't have to go to your credit cards anytime life happens.
So I hope to see you inside the challenge. It is a launching May 13th, but you want to get in there now so that we can get started on getting you set up.
